The greatest drag queen of all time, Divine was the frequent collaborator & long-time muse of our favorite filmmaker, John Waters. He is widely viewed as a hero in both gay and punk culture, as well as one of the most significant drag queens of all time, People magazine described Divine. Her influence on the pop culture landscape extends far beyond the Pope of Trash’s Dreamlanders era, however, emanating to as far-reaching places as the San Franciscan performers The Cockettes, the punkification of disco, and Disney’s The Little Mermaid. Divine net worth: Divine was an American actor, singer, and drag queen with a net worth of 400 thousand. Our intent was to honor the Queen of Filth in all her fabulously fucked-up glory by maintaining a new Mardi Gras tradition in Krewe Divine, a costuming krewe meant to masquerade in the French Quarter on every Fat Tuesday into perpetuity. Divine was born in Baltimore, Maryland in October 1945 and passed away in March 1988.

It was inspired by Divine, an iconic LGBTIQ Drag Queen in the 1970s and 1980s. Our initial krewe was a small group of Swampflix contributors: site co-founders Brandon Ledet & Britnee Lombas, regular contributor CC Chapman, and repeat podcast guest Virginia Ruth.

#Divine drag queen urslua movie
At what age did you find out that the character of URSULA from the Disney movie THE LITTLE MERMAID is inspired by a Drag Queen named DIVINE (Harris Glenn Milstead) they not only took their appearance as a reference to develop the character but also their behavior. In 2018 we were joined by local drag performer CeCe V DeMenthe, who frequently pays tribute to Divine in her performances.
